This is a brief tutorial for achieving accurate daylight whites, using a RGBCCT COB-strip.

The strip used in this example has 840 leds per meter, in alternating r,b,g,cw,ww sequence. It was set to FW1906GRBCW in the led preference settings.

First you need to use the rgb elements of the strip to ‘prime’ your white. A very good base setting is 255,224,160,255 (r,g,b,w) and the cct part set to 137. This results in a good ‘morning daylight’ white. From there you just use the ww-cw slider to adjust your white color to warmer morning or evening temperatures or to cooler midday temperatures. You get the color temperatures quite accurate (in medium northern latitudes) with only the ww-cw slider if the rbg elements are set correctly. Place the strip directly above the full width of your window to observe and compare outside and strip color temperature to get familiar with your exact settings.

840 led/m… was it fcob? That’s a lot of LEDs… where did you get it from? How bright is it?

$10/meter, pricy! Is it bright? Looks pretty!

It seems to drop if you order 5m.

I think it’s sufficiently bright. Mounted around the window frame it makes the difference (for the whites) inside the room between ‘sun hidden by cloud’ when off and ‘sun without cloud‘ when on. Reference is: ground level floor, multi-story buildings in the middle of the city.

I usually tone it down to \<=25% if I use color patterns or animations in the evening, otherwise it’s just too overpowering.

I got a similar one as well! Thank you, your guide was helpful to have them light up properly.

It’s pretty indeed. Not as bright as I expected, but maybe mine takes less power. What’s your power at 100% white?
