# Control a single LED with a WS2811 controller

Hey guys,  
I was wondering why a WS2811 only can control a 3 LED segment and not a single LED? Is this hardware related or does it „only" take an update of the WLED software?

Those are for use with 12v and I believe three are used to drop the voltage. The WS2815 has single-LED control.
