My D1 mini is crashing every day. I have a automation in homeassistant where when it gets unavailable for 3 min, it power cycle it. But then there is a strange problem that after power cycle some LEDs at the start of my strip turn on in different colors (but mostly White-ish). But the main problem is the crashes, which got even more now with the 16 version. Before with 15, it also crashed often, but not as often with 16. With 16 it now crashes daily, and i also can’t see a time window, it crashes on random times. I hope this can be fixed. Thx Lanea Lucy ---

sounds like it’s a power issue. recommended capacitor on 3.3V rail installed? ---

Everything is powerd by a 5V power supply and the crashes also happening when the strip is off, so unless the onboard 3,3V regulator is faulty, it shouldn’t be a power problem. But the thing is, it worked before. The problem got introduced in a 15 version and got worse in 16 version ---

Is HA polling it too frequently causing it to lockup? ---

Adding a capacitor on the 3.3V rail has fixed many subtle issues for many users. ---

I am using ESP32 dev board, had similar issue though did not upgrade to 16. Had been attempting any work around that I could find. Tried clearing the board and fresh install (a few times). Nothing was helping. Replaced the dev board and all is good. Not knowing this would be of value, just something to consider.
