I’m using a custom ESP32-WROOM-32E board and so far never had any issues with OTA updates.

Now when I do the update from v0.13.3 to v0.14.0-b6 via the OTA update within WLED UI the Update seems to be successful (no error on web ui) but the ESP32 doesn’t boot and the default Wi-Fi ESP\_\*\*\*\* appears next to other Wi-Fi devices.

But if I upload the latest firmware via Platformio there is no issue.

Is this a known issue?

What is your file system size? (check in Info dialog)
If it says something similar to 1500kB than you will need to erase flash and do a fresh install as 0.14 images are larger and require different partition sizes.
If it says about 983kB then try rebooting (or complete power cycle) and the try again.

983kB is what my Controller is saying.
Powercycle / Reboot didn’t do the trick, unfortunately.

But what works is actually connecting to ESP\_XXX and opening up 192.168.4.1, factory reset and everything is back.

Network Service is probably not the right term, but it seems like, that’s what’s failing during the update

If you can attach it to USB, you can use @srg74 offline installer, but do not erase flash.
If you prefer using web installer, make sure you back up configuration and presets before doing upgrade.
Backup is in Security & Updates.
