I built a preset-only interface for WLED and thought this crowd might get some use out of it.

**Try it first:** [Presets](https://j0nz.github.io/wled-preset-groups/pset.htm) — the page falls back to demo
data when it can’t find a device, so that link is the real interface running in your browser. Poke
at it on your phone before you install anything.

Single Group of presets

**The itch.** I’ve got a pile of presets, and the stock UI is great for _building_ looks. But when
I just want to _pick_ one — especially when I’m handing my phone to someone else — I wanted the
presets grouped the way I think about them (fast, slow, ambient) with nothing else on screen. I
also wanted to audition a fast one, then go and look through the slow ones, without losing my
place.

**What it is.** One HTML file you upload to the WLED filesystem. WLED serves it like any other
file, so there’s no app, no server, no second device, and no recompiling. It sits alongside the
normal UI — the stock interface is still there at `/`, untouched.

Your groups live in the page, not in WLED: it never modifies your presets or your config. Group
definitions are stored in your browser, and optionally mirrored to a separate `/pgroups.json` on
the device so other phones and tablets pick them up automatically.

- Groups you define yourself, shown as sections in one scroll — or tap a heading to see just that
group
- Group rail on tablets, filter chips on phones
- A “recent” row of the last presets you used
- Search, and playlists are detected, badged and filterable
- Live preview of the strip along the top, over WLED’s websocket, dimming with your brightness
- Light/dark themes, 12 accent colours, 4 dark backgrounds (including true black for OLED)
- Power, brightness, now-playing line, and the device’s mDNS address in the header
- ~47 KB, no external requests, works offline

**Install.** Download `pset.htm`, open WLED, click **Files** , upload it, then go to
`http://<your-wled>/pset.htm`. The Files button needs WLED 0.16 or newer; on older versions upload
it at `http://<your-wled>/edit` instead. Minimum is 0.11, where presets moved to
`/presets.json`. On a phone, “add to home screen” makes it a full-screen app.

**One disclosure:** the code was written by AI — I worked through it with Claude and tested each
round on my own hardware. The source is a single readable file in the repo if you’d like to look
before uploading, and it only uses the documented JSON API.

Feedback welcome, particularly on two things: whether showing every group on one page is the right default, and anything that misbehaves on setups unlike mine — matrices, multiple segments, or large preset counts.
