# Problem ic2811

I have had flickering problems with the new versions of ws2811 chip,
I have seen that chips dated June 2023 have errors with the WLED drivers. esp32
If I change for an older chip from January or February or March 2023 it works perfectly. but with the new rolls of LED tape it does not.
Does anyone know how to solve it? please help

What’s your wiring diagram look like?
How many LEDs?
What’s your power?
What MCU are you using?
What version of WLED?
It looks like you have this request posted twice (the other one is in Questions), please delete the one without responses or this will rapidly get confusing…

Do you have a levelshifter in this?
What happens if you attach the old LEDs first and then tie the new ones to the old?

I solve everything when the first pixel changes to an older one.
I contacted the manufacturers of the ic2811 and they told me that they made an update to the chip starting in June 2023.
and all ws2811 pixels from that date onwards are not compatible with esp32, because they work with flicker errors.
If you can and have an updated tape, you can try it so you can help me solve it in the forums of this group.
I would appreciate.
It is worth noting. The only ones that produce the ws2811 chip in China are called world semi and they sell the main chip for assembly to all the LED tape manufacturers, that is, to any company that buys lighting from them. the chip will not be compatible

I would suggest your 2nd statement is good evidence that your 1st statement is incorrect.
If the use of an old pixel “solves” the problem, then it’s very likely that the new pixels are simply less tolerant of out of voltage specs.
Pixels all regenerate the voltage levels required for their data stream. They **DO NOT** change the timing of the data stream (that would ruin the data).
You got away without a levelshifter in the past, you’re not getting away with one now.
That’s a common problem.

You are saying two different things here.
First you say using a old one first fixes the new ones. Then you say using old ones first does not work.
Which one is correct?
And please don’t say a level shifter is unnecessary if you have not even tried one to see if it fixes your problem. You can’t know that without at least testing it…

Hello.
If both statements are correct.
If I use an old chip at the beginning of the LEDs, it works correctly.
and if I use a new or recent chip manufactured in June 2023 it does not work. genres flickers.
At the moment I don't have a signal booster to test it. However, in the project I am using I need the 10 outputs of the ESP32, so I would need 10 signal drivers.
The idea of my main question is. Is there a way to change the code for the ESP32? Today it fails with any version of WLED.
If someone can test it with a current ws2811 tape it would be very good and thus confirm my comments.
