I just spent the better part of a day sniffing out what i thought was a voltage issue.. or maybe a chip issue (i haven’t used GS8206 or GS8208 much compared to WS2812..)… but as it turns out it was the automatic brightness limiter.
I don’t know if this was a recent default or if i just never encountered before, but IMHO this should not be a default but rather opt in.
It’s a crude safety feature so I think having it default is a good idea and has been default as long as I know. Possibly from the beginning. It is a way to help protect people from starting fires, as most do not understand the need for; correct amperage rated power supplies, wire gauge, and protection fuses.
