ESP12 modules with weak FLASH chip?

I have some ESP12 stamps from aliexpress with a strange reaction. In 3 cases the ESPs are dead. No hardreset via PSU helps and no WLAN AP can found.
When i flash the module again, with pogopin adapter it works again - on board did lost his program after 2 or 3 weeks again!
It looks like a FLASH with “Alzheimer” :woozy_face:
I did open the metal can from one module

It’s a chinese chip manufacture, what I don’t know. Think, i will order some chips with a brand, what I can trust und change the FLASH chip.
Did anyone made the same expirience?

I had some bad luck with cheap esp32-sx modules.

In most cases the serial to usb chip just dies and sometimes keeps holding reset as well.

In one case the LDO died.

most likely not the flash chip’s fault but something else making it misbehave. usually unstable power.
