Frame rate issues on WLED 14.0 Audio reactive using ESP32

I’ve been using WLED SR for a while with my setup of 768 WS2812b LEDS that are split over 3 - 16x16 panels of 256 each. With the new WLED there is much greater support for matrices and better effects overall, as you all know, but with most effects on the current version with Audio reactivity, the frame rate can be as low as 10FPS on some effects, some that aren’t using many LEDS at a time too, such as Fireworks 1D.

Here are some examples of Average FPS for some of the more noticeable examples:
Matripix - 14fps
Noisemeter - 15fps
PixelWave - 14fps
Plasmoid - 13fps
Swirl - 15fps
Waverly - 10fps
Crazy Bees - 14fps
Colored bursts - 13fps
DNA - 14fps ’
Drift - 13fps
Drift Rose - 12fps
Fire 2012 - 13fps
Fireworks 1D - 14fps
Noise Fire - 12fps
Octopus - 23fps
Phased Noise - 10fps

WLED 14.0 Plain, without the Audio reactivity User mod, does not have these issues, the frame rate is fine, but obviously many people will want this functionality, myself included. Hopefully this is something that can be resolved in the near future. Thanks.

You do not really need a fixture to double check the fps for any effects as that could be done by anyone simply by copying your setting even without a fixture . You have not listed the number of output used or the Target refresh rate you set hence it is not possible to replicate your setup . In my own setups of 48x16 or 32x32 the fps is much higher then you listed with Audio active as already listed to you on discord

I think i might have found out what is the issue , if you used the release https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED/releases/download/v0.14.0/WLED_0.14.0_ESP32_audioreactive.bin then yes this has an issue with fps which i also faced .
Compile from source or use the latest nightly build with audio usermod from here WLED installation (wled-install.github.io) and it should fix the issue ( it fixed it on my test unit )

Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve been at work. Just tried the nightly build and it’s so much better. I’ve got 6 - 16*16 panels, totalling 1536 leds and its running most effects around 25fps now instead of sub 15fps with only 3 panels. Thanks for the help!

That is a lot of leds , i only did max of 1k with wled , if you are happy with the result then fine ( assuming you have used 6 output which what I would do ) . If for any reason you need a sanity check we could replicate but without a fixture . In all cases i would only concern myself of how the effects look regardless of the reported fps . Good luck
