Hardwired control - any?

Hi guys, i have a project where I want to interface the wled esp with a raspberry pi directly. Is there any way to control the wled using something like SPI or serial over a uart or even ethernet? I looked through the forums and saw someone asking about ethernet but it sounds like it will be difficult. It would be great if we can send the api commands over serial.

Are you saying you can’t use the HTTP or json APIs since the devices are not on a network?

I can, but not sure how to use ethernet and not wifi.
