Upgraded from 15.3 to 16.0 ESP32 weird issue with 'COPY SEGMENT'

I have GLEDOPTO 310 series controllers. I upgraded one to 16.0. It’s running 6 panels (cube setup) 16x16 on two GPIO pins. Runs fine on 15.3. When I upgraded to 16, it won’t run for more than a minute and reboots. I downgraded back to 15.3, works fine.

I took another 310 controller and upgraded to 16 and did a backup / restore for hardware and presets from the 15.3 cube setup. I don’t have 6 extra panels for the test so I hooked up a 32x8 panel but left the hardware configured as 6 panels.

It’s running the playlist as expected on v16 and then it keeps getting hung up on ‘COPY SEGMENT’ effect. I don’t have that effect in my playlist so I don’t understand how it’s running it. The ‘COPY SEGMENT’ is going full white very fast blink on the panel. I suspect if I had 6 panels connected like the 15.3 is running the power supply is probably maxed out causing the reboot on the cube.

So why is v16 running ‘COPY SEGMENT’ when it’s not in the playlist?

the FX meteor smooth was replaced with copy segment. you need to select metor and enable the “smooth” checkmark. this is a breaking change from 0.15 to 16.0

RE controller rebooting: 16.0 puts more strain on power demands of the controller. if it is not designed well it may crash.

I removed the Meteor Smooth preset and confirmed it is no longer in the playlist. Then did the upgrade back to 16.0. Now it says “Sorry there was an issue loading your presets” and it’s also not showing my playlist yet it’s playing the playlist. It’s also rebooting every minute or so.

I restored the Presets from a backup and quickly removed Meteor Smooth. I then went into settings and dropped the amp limiter to 3 amps from 4 amps. With v15.3 it was consistently pulling 1.7 amps. Now with v16 it’s pulling 2.5 amps!

Considering I am not using any v16 enhancements why is it pulling the extra amps? I was easily able to run this cube off my Anker USB charger. With the limiter set to 3 amps it seems ok but is not as bright since I dropped the limiter down a full amp.
