WIFI not working on XIAO-ESP32-S3

Hi everyone,

I want to integrate some shiny WLED powered lights into clothing, so I ended up getting a XIAO-ESP32-S3 mostly for its small size.
However, I can’t get WLED to work on it - even if I successfully flash the firmware, the AP won’t come up, and the web installer won’t help me connect to a wifi. The message Error: Improv Wi-Fi Serial not detected appears in the browser console.

I tried different firmware versions including the current nightly built, both via esptool and the web interface, and I also didn’t forget to flash the bootloader as in the instructions when using esptool.

Furthermore, I managed to flash a different firmware on that ESP and the AP works there, so it’s neither the cable nor is the WIFI on that device broken in general.

Is there a way to get this running on my ESP?
(Or alternatively: Can you recommend any other ESP boards of a similar size?)

The ESP32-s3 is unsupported as far as I know.

what does “unsupported” mean in this context? there are binaries for three different S3-versions in the current releases, so I’d assume they work on at least some devices…

I am sorry. I misread your post, and thought you wrote ESP32-C6. Apologies!

try https://wled-install.github.io/

It behaves the same as described above and - in the end - doesn’t open an AP.
