WS2805 runs with WLED. But only with controllers with 5V logiclevel. The bare ESP evaluationboards works with 3,3V only. You need a board with levelshifter outside. What is special by “moonmodule”?
if this modules comunicate with the bare signals from WS2805 IC, thats crap! In past i’d relize similar project with WS2814 (rgbw pixel) I’d boost the serial data signals with RS485
