Will WLED work?

Found some interesting LEDs online and was wondering if WLED would work with these pixels. Here is the info provided:

  • WS2811-5V
  • full color RGB(WS2811 IC inside)each module as one pixel;takes 3dmx channels
  • One piece of high bright 5050 smd rgb led

Thanks for your help!

They sound like they will. 2811 should work with no issue.

I just purchased WS2811 5V and not able to power them through ESP8266.

Just powered WS2812B with no problem. both are connected the same way, each have the own ESP.

WLED/wifi does discover it but will not power on the WS2811 5V…

any idea why???

Thank you

Would need to see a circuit or connection diagram

2811’s are probably the most commonly used pixel for Wled so you shouldn’t be getting any issues unless there’s a connection problem or the first pixel is dead. The can happen through reverse polarity connecting or possible data line surges through not using an inline resistor however this is rare since the data output is only 3.3v or less.

yes I saw another post here mentioning stuff about inline resistor… I dont have that on hand.

Will give it another try tonight, last knight I had some wifi connectivity issues… maybe it was not helping.

I do know the first pixel is not dead. I plugged them on another controller and they all worked fine

LEDs diagram 5V

Hi!

followed the top diagram, but with no level shifter or resistor. Last night my wifi connectivity was not working for unknown reason… maybe it part of the reason…

OK,

so flashed a new ESP8266, wifi connectivity work fine. wled app on iphone was not able to find the LEDs so I typed the IP address and it discovered it.

from the app I am able to turn on and off the ESP but the 2811 LEDs still not turning on.

Strip connected to proper pin on ESP?
