Hey folks im new to this community and i have been battleling with getting WLED to work with my ws2812b Via ESP8266 (these are the only ones i have found reliably in korea)
Specifically this time i will be speaking about the Weimos D1R2 ESP8266.
I have attached and image of what the LED’s are doing and how it is all configured. But a brief breakdown.
Red powel =VIN
Green Data=D4
White = Ground
I hav3 the gpio set to 2 and i installed WLED 0.14.3 Official release. It is currently being powered by a micro usb and a 5v power supply plugged into the board, does anyone have any idea where im going wrong because ive been at this for a whole day now
What could work for you ( i did that many times ) if you power the board with 5v power supply ( remove usb ) and also splice that power cable and pass 5v and gnd to strips ( you should not power your strip directly from the board as you are doing now as this could damage it ) only pass data from your board to the strip and things should work
You should only be powering that board from 1 source not 2 at the same time.
How many LEDs do you have set in WLED?
-You can not power that whole strip from those dupont bread board wires.
-You likely can not power that whole strip with power only connected to the beginning. You will probability need to add power to the other end of the strip as well.
How much power are you trying to run through that controller board? The listing I see of those says it can only output 5v 1Amp.
You are likely having a power issue.
Try setting the total # of LEDs to a small # like 10 and see if they work.
The fix was the fact that i was running a 5v power supply for a 12 volt led strip.
I also took your advice and stopped powering it via usb and setting up power injectiong directly into the seperate red and white wires going into the light strip using wago clips. Thank yall!!
