I am starting out in the world of wled this year. I bought the asahom permanent lights pro (s1080) with the wled controller, I will link it below. It has 2 outputs and I only need one.
I’m thinking of using the second output to try and run some 12v bullet pixels for Christmas props. The main issue is the asahom power supply is 28.8v. My idea is to run the second output data line to the pixels and inject 12v or use a DC-DC power supply to get the 12v. I’m thinking this should be all I need besides fusing.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Or maybe I should just go esp32 and forget about it.
You would have to connect the negative ground to the controller as well as the data line. As long as you do that it should work. I would use a separate 12v supply for the bullet pixels vs a buck converter, to be sure you don’t go over the current rating of the ASAHOM power supply.
*All DC grounds must be common (LEDs, Controller, LEDs power supply(s))
Thanks. I was thinking the same. I might not use the asahom power supply for it and just use 120-12 power supply. I still have a week or two before I make the next move. I might order an esp32 just in case it doesn’t work for some reason.
