Cannot do a static pattern

I’m using WLED Ver 0.15.0 with NeoPixel pebble LEDS and an ESP32. What I’m trying to do is a fixed pattern, R, W, R, W etc. across 20 segments. I’m using the Chase 2 effect with the width set to 0. When I stop the pattern with the effect speed, the LEDs on that segment all change to a different color.

What is the best way to do a fixed, alternating color pattern?

solid effect, use overlapping segments, grouping, spacing and offset of segment start.
create as many patterns as you want as presets, then create a playlist.
