Certain Colors are incorrect

Hi, i purchased this LED Tube from Aliexpress:

It says it’s a WS2812B - it works nice so far but i’m having issues with certain colors.
When setting to solid white or yellow, one end has the correct color but it has a gradient to red to the other end. Any ideas what could be wrong?
All effects seem to work properly, it’s only with solid white and yellow.
Btw. BTF-Lighting replied, that it requires DC5v instead of AC5v - could that be the reason? I’m using AC5 but it works

Thanks

Looks like voltage drop issue. Take down brightness and see if effect is less intensive. If so you need power injection on the end of the strip.

They add quite a markup to stuff the strip into the tube. BTF usually has the best prices for addressable LEDs (just don’t buy their AC strips). But you can get 5m silicone tubes from other vendors on AliExpress for $30. And if you’re going to cut it in to smaller pieces, you don’t want it preloaded anyhow.

Having worked with these before, I’d also recommend you pick a tube 12mm wide. They won’t send you enough clips, they don’t sell them anywhere, and nothing sticks to silicone. But a 12mm tube fits perfectly in a 1/2" aluminum channel.

Thanks for your reply - i connected a DC power adapter to it as expected and it works without problems - What would happen if the strip WAS AC? would it get damaged?

I thought we were joking about AC. All LEDs are going to be DC. Diodes (the D in LED) only allow current to flow in one direction. And your power adapter is most likely 110/200v AC in and 5v DC out. But if it is 5VAC you should switch it out.
