Choppy Solid transition using Home Assistant scenes

Hi,

I am experiencing “choppy” transitions when changing the colour, brightness and power state of WLED strips via both WLED’s own web dashboard and via the WLED Home Assistant integration.

I am simply trying to transition (over 2000ms) the full LED strip from one colour & brightness combination to another - all very simply varying shades of white in this instance. I have multiple HA scenes setup (e.g. morning, day, evening for simplicity) each with different white levels/colors and brightness. There is also another “off” scene that simply changes the WLED power state.

Now, when transitioning between these different scenes (or the equivalent settings directly on the WLED dashboard) the transition over 2000ms is very choppy. By choppy, I mean as if the FPS is ~1.5… over the 2000ms the brightness/colour only updates 3 times!

I’ve tried multiple option tweaks (inc. aligning the WLED transition time to 2000ms), including across both v15.3 and v16.0-alpha versions however I am experiencing the same choppiness.

Any ideas what could be causing this? It has previously worked (I believe in an early version on v15.x or v14.x).

Sorry, it’s not clear to me if this problem is happening only when you try to make changes via HA or whether it’s a problem from the WLED web interface as well?

If it’s happening from the web page, my instincts would say to temporarily disable HA from talking to WLED at all. Then you can test various options in WLED without worrying about HA caused issues. That also gives a scenario where others can test your attempts to see if the problem can be replicated.

Solid effect used to have 350ms refresh time. You can alleviate that by forcing “off refresh”.

Sorry, thats my bad - I did mean to add that I am also seeing this choppy transition when manually transitioning through the WLED web UI. Interestingly it’s not consistent - some times it is smooth (and via HA) when the majority of times it is choppy.
