Flickering interference with other light

Hi,

I have the following problem. When I turn on my WLED lamp, it changes color randomly. It also tries to stay on the set color. So I redid everything from scratch — same issue again. I tried a different ESP32 — same problem.

Yes, I have a level shifter installed, and I also tried different resistors on the data line.

Now I’ve found the cause: when another lamp in the room is turned on, interference occurs. If that lamp is off, everything works fine. I’m using a cheap Chinese power supply. The LED strip is SK-6812.

Does anyone have experience with this? I’m considering switching the power supply to a Meanwell LRS. Or are there other solutions? Otherwise, I might have to replace the other lamp in the room.

Thanks a lot for your help!

cheap power supplies can cause that. or incorrect levelshifter, see Levelshifter Analysis

What type of wire and what resistance does your level shifter include? You’ll need different values depending on the wire type, and that is assuming you have an appropriate level shifter.

Also, did you include the .1uF ceramic capacitor with your levelshifter?

Hi,

Can you test the output of the power supply with an oscilloscope? Once in a while I have encountered low end PS’s that pass a/c.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an oscilloscope. But I’ve now replaced the lamp, since it had a very cheap LED driver in it. The lamp belonged to my previous tenant.

I’ve changed it now, but in the future I think I’ll only buy Meanwell.

Thanks a lot for your support!

And yes all the wiring is like the guide. And i testet resistors between 47-220 ohms.
