I have grouped them together but none of the preinstalled effects really hits the mark.
Will I have to write my own or is there a simple way. Thanks
Searching for an answer is almost useless as it only shows problems with blinking LEDs.
The first thing that occurs to me is: “Define random?”
What I mean is, you have an idea of what the range of time between blinks should be and perhaps some idea of the distribution over that range.
I’d guess a 100s pause is excessive as would be a burst of 10 .2s gaps.
I don’t think you’re going to get a simple random time function in WLED that gives you what you want directly (someone may prove me wrong). What you might try is to use a playlist that has a range of time distributions that are appropriate with the “Blink” effect. You could have a list of 16 times that simulate some of the randomness you want.
To add an extra layer of uncertainty, you could build a list of custom palettes that would have a dynamic or “random” distribution of the colour(s) you want for the blink and cycle through those randomly in your playlist.
That should give you a random blink that occurs at a variety of intervals you predefine.
As you mention, the alternative is to build your own usermod.
hi @andrexus use blink and group 2 then there is one eye
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve solved it by using the Fire preset and grouping the eyes together. On a very slow setting it gives the appearance of random blinks with different lengths of time.
