How to install Tasmota on a device running WLED?

Hi,

Is there a way to install Tasmota on a device which is currently running WLED (e.g. a smart lightbulb)? If yes, how can it be done? Could e.g. the built-in WLED firmware update web UI be used for that purpose?

Even though it is possible it is not recommended. Bootloader and partiton map differs between the two.

What does it mean specifically? Do you know for a fact that this kind of firmware upgrade is possible?

If someone uploads the tasmota.bin file through the WLED firmware update UI, will it work?

Has someone tried it already? If yes, what were the results?

Try it yourself and report for others.

Yes, I have tried it and it did work for me. The Tasmota firmware was installed correctly.

However, the settings were not preserved between the WLED firmware and the Tasmota firmware. The Tasmota firmware did not have the correct WiFi settings stored after the firmware was installed. And it also did not create its own WiFi access point.

It was necessary to perform a Fast Power Cycle Device Recovery, i.e. reset the Tasmota firmware to its defaults by power cycling it 7 times. Then it created a WiFi access point and it was possible to perform the initial WiFi setup.
