New Alpha Ver 0.12 Multi Channel Output - Has any tried it?

I’ve just started experimenting with the new Alpha 0.12 multi channel output software. Initial testing is looking promising. Has anyone else had a play yet and if so how are you finding it?

For those of you that are unfamiliar with compiling code, below is a complied version of 2102050 from a few days ago. It appears to have the Merry Christmas pattern missing however this is probably a small glitch since it was present on an earlier build.

Please note this version is for ESP32 dev which works on most ESP32 profiles. The multi channel version may not be practical for the ESP8266 however I’ll give it a try at some point.

By coincidence I came across a Hikari (WLED 12) video that might be of your interest:

Personally, I see no benefit for normal LED strips myself as most of the applications can be covered by segments. Multi output only has the advantage that it can do transitions, which segments cannot up to now - a real miss for me.

What are transitions…

Really? Transitions are smooth state changes from LEDs, e.g. on/off switching show a smooth dimming effect to the new state rather than a sudden “hard” switch.

This version offers plenty more than just transition’s.
Pin assignment alone is huge benefit with full segment control across all 10 channel outputs. I would have benefited from this revision at Christmas rather than having to sync several controllers together. It could have all been done from one ESP32.

@pa1okz never heard the term. Makes sense!
