Preset organization

Is there a way to organize the presets listing in the browser user interface? Or are there plans for that in the future?

I think of sorting by ID or name, or grouping blocks of them together visually (color?) by name prefix or other means. Currently the display sequence seems random and difficult to get around if you have a lot of them. Can I edit the save file directly?

sorting by name is default, you can sort by ID.

there was some work done to make groups of presets but not sure what the status is and why it was abandoned, maybe it was incompatible with something else. you can search github pull requests.

Yes, it’s sorted by ID, but with all Playlists first, then Presets. I missed that.

But I can’t sort by name. I have a search field and then two buttons ‘+Preset’ and ‘+Playlist’ but no way to sort by name (in the browser interface, four columns). Do I miss something?

The grouping I have in mind has no dependencies upon anything and would be very simple. Just a equal background color if the preset name has the same prefix - like ‘Soap:Temp’, ‘Soap:Sunset‘, ‘Soap:Yelout‘, here ‘Soap:’ would be the prefix with ‘:’ as the delimiter. That would be a good visual cue to keep a better overview in the UI. Should I make a feature request?

check UI settings

such a feature is highly specific to your needs. the one that was implemented was more general, search it and see why it was not implemented.

You mean ‘Config’→’User Interface’→’UI Appearance’?

I see ‘Show preset IDs’, but nothing related to sorting the presets. Is that a 15.1. thing?

To answer to myself:

According to old chats, it seems that presets where always sorted by name, and later the possibillity to sort by ID was added. Only that I only have sorting by ID and seemingly can’t configure a sorting by name. Am I the only one with this issue? But why?
