Relais carry current / switching current

Hi all,
I am looking for a relay to reduce the standby current of my WLED project. The available space is very limited (tiny case) so I need to use a small relay with a limited current rating.

My question:
Many relays have separate ratings for their max. carry current (which is higher) and their max. switching current (which is lower).
Does WLED dim the strip down before it switches the relay off or will it brutally switch off at full brightness and full current?
If it dims down first I can select the relay along its carry current. If it switches at full power I would have to obey the switching current, which would result in a bigger relay, which I obviously don’t want.

relays are switched before the strip is turned on and after it is turned off unless you cut power or have some other error/bug. in normal operation, it is switched when leds are off.
