Support of external PWM IC

Hello together,
I would like to controll 9 additional “special” LEDs (40V 2W) with WLED. Unfortunately my controller (WT32-ETH01) only has 5 additional outputs left.

Is there any support by default for an external PWM chip?

I was wondering if support of external PWM ICs has progressed along the years?

Especially for the TLC5947 for which adafruit offers a nice pinout board.
