We can choose to use 24-hour time or not, but it seems that only 24 can be used for timed macros?
Correct 
The time format option only affects the clock overlays, I didn’t yet get around to adding a dynamic AM/PM checkmark to the timed macros section, so it uses 24hrs format only for now.
