Hi all,
I have a few sets of RGB addressable string lights that I bought off Amazon for a Movie sign project. They lasted about a year and the controller failed. As the lights are built-in to a very heavy wall hanging sign, they are going to be a nightmare to physically remove and replace with a new string. I’m hoping I can drive them with a ESP32 WLED unit.
Here is the controller I went with Amazon.com: Sogledwow ESP32 WLED LED Strip Controller Dynamic RGB IC IO33 DIY Port App Control Easy Wiring Terminal for WS2811 WS2812 SK6812 TM1814 WS2813 WS2815 FCOB Addressable Strip Light : Tools & Home Improvement
Here is the string light I am trying to save Amazon.com: ZUUKOO LIGHT Smart Outdoor String Lights (G45) : Home & Kitchen
I got everything up and running with the WLED app and controller etc but my lights are acting very strange. Unfortunately many (not all) are the wrong color and don’t respond to changes in color or brightness. I assume it’s a data issue.
I am using the original power supply that came with the light string to power the new control box so it should have enough juice. There are 25 lights in the string. LED 1 doesn’t light, LEDs 2,4,5 and 7 are correct color and respond to brightness changes in the WLED app, but all other LEDs just remain lit with random colors that don’t change.
I’ve found that the SK6812/WS2814 RGBW protocol with RGB order has been most successful so far, but I don’t know what other settings to change in order to get the lights all the same color.
I could really do with some guidance please.
Thanks
