Hi I’m currently looking at adding WLED and WS2815 (I wanted to use SK6812 as I like the dedicated white LED but I think I may run into power issues with these so plumped for WS2815) to my day van. Some in the roof as interior lights and ambient lights as well, WLED is looking promising but I need more than 1 button to select various favourites. But while looking around to see if any one else had done this I’ve sort of changed my plan if it can be done.
So ideally I want to run all the inputs into another ESP32 which will handle all the button control and then tell WLED what to run. I know I could add this into WLED user mod part but I would rather have my bit on a separate board so later updates of WLED don’t require any extra work for me.
Is there a communication method I can use for this?
Please bear in mind I have very little knowledge of programming this stuff but can do some basic things and have been trying to learn how to use the arduino format.
Below is my LED layout and truth table for buttons/inputs.
And a picture of the current LED’s (cheap RGB strip) in the roof halo.
