Waterproof set-up for boats and motorcycles

Check out this vid: Slingshot Lightshow

The video is of a Light Show Contest for 3-Wheeled Roadsters called “SLINGSHOTS” manufactured by Polaris.

Almost everyone who owns one of these cars, MODIFIES them! And the most popular modification by far, is LIGHTS!

I’ve been involved in the Slingshot community for several years, and although I don’t have as much lighting as the Slingshots in the video, I’m planning on adding some this off-season….

Almost everyone uses simple “off the shelf” led controllers, with a single Chanel and only a handful of pre-installed “effects” and very limitless control of colors and the “effects”. WLED could add a whole new level of functionality and effect!

I’m trying to find a suitable board that I can mount in the vehicle, the issue is the set-up has to be IP67! As these vehicles have open cockpits and link motorcycles the wiring can be exposed to the elements and needs to be robust!

Any suggestions on how to best make a waterproof, or at least very water resistant…

Any ideas???

Thanks!!!

One of the simplest and most robust enclosures I’ve kludged together for ESP32 boards is just a small piece of 1" (25mm) PVC pipe. There’s a range of caps, threaded adapters, etc that can give you a good seal. This suggestion works well for many of the “standard” esp32 WROOM type boards.

In general I try and separate the power supply portion from the data supply. This keeps the heavier wires and power issues away from the ESP side of things and simplifies some of the waterproofing issues (IMHO).

Awesome idea! Thanks!
