WLED and Art-Net

Greetings-
I have microcontroller and digital electronics experience, but I am new to the world of LED light displays and working my way up the learning curve.

Basic architecture seems to be WLED controller software running on ESP32s.

My question is how does Art-Net relate to this? Is Art-Net software that is a replacement/ alternative to WLED software? Or does Art-Net run on a desktop and synchronize multiple ESP32/ WLED controllers. In simple terms, what does Art-Net add to an ESP32/ WLED setup?

Thank you-

Art-Net is a software protocol to allow external programs to communicate with lighting devices (like WLED).

WLED supports the protocol so software (and other controllers) that can output Art-Net can control WLED devices.

The Better one is to use the Standard E131 DMX protokoll to drive throu WLED
most controlling software can do this
Even a full Xmas show can be tranported over the WIFI from Xlight to the ESP32 >13k LED

BEST is you can use multiple small Controllers D1Mini to run different displays on different corners of the Stage no cable at all
