Can WLED run mixed LED types on different outputs of a GLEDOPTO GL-C-619WL?

I’m designing a shelving lighting project using a GLEDOPTO GL-C-619WL (6-output WLED controller) and am trying to determine whether WLED can run different LED chipsets on different outputs simultaneously.

My intended configuration is:

  • Output 1-5: RGB or RGBW addressable strips for filament shelves
  • Output 6: Tunable white strip for task lighting

Examples I’m considering:

  • Outputs 1-5: WS2811 RGB 24V (18 pixels/m), WS2814 RGBW, or SK6812 RGBW
  • Output 6: WS2805 RGBCCT or another tunable-white-capable addressable strip

Questions:

  1. Can a single WLED instance on a GL-C-619WL run different bus types simultaneously?
  2. Has anyone successfully mixed WS2811, WS2814, SK6812, and/or WS2805 outputs on the same controller?
  3. Does WLED allow each output (bus) to be independently configured for LED type, or must all outputs use the same chipset family?
  4. If mixed bus types are supported, are there any limitations on effects, segments, synchronization, color handling, or performance?
  5. If not supported, what is the recommended way to have:
    • 5 independently controlled RGB/RGBW shelf zones
    • 1 independently controlled tunable-white task-light zone
    • while minimizing the number of controllers?

I’m specifically looking for confirmation from someone who has actually run a mixed-output setup (or can point to documentation confirming support).

Thanks!

yes, fully supported. no disadvantage of doing so except maybe the UI can get confusing as the white/cct slider may pop in and out of existance.

Thank you, that’s exactly what I needed to know.

As a follow-up, for five 5-foot shelf runs where I want to learn WLED and have reasonably smooth effects, would you personally choose:

  • WS2811 RGB 24V 108 LED/m (18 pixels/m)
  • WS2814 RGBW
  • WS2805 RGBCCT

The strips will be installed in shallow aluminum channels with milky diffusers and partially obscured by filament spools.

I’m trying to balance effect resolution vs. lighting quality.

Do you want adjustable color temperature? Then get WS2805. If not, WS2814 (fixed white) is a good choice.

similar questions have been asked many (many) times, check here, discord or reddit. in general, what is “reasonably smooth” is subjective, get some samples and experiment yourself.

from a wled side: if you keep the number of LEDs below 1000 total it will run very smooth, at 4000 you are limited in achievable FPS, depends on the effects but should still get like 30FPS
