Easy switch controlling full strip to individual segments?

I have a strip that will be installed in three levels(on shelving), sometimes I want them to each do their own thing or even do the same exact thing in the same direction (segments with the middle on reverse achieves this).
But sometimes I want it to act like 1 strip so maybe bouncing balls or meteor flows through all of them from top to bottom or reverse(if that makes sense).

so is there a way to setup one segment to control the whole strip as if there are no segments, and then 3 more segments with the strip divided, and then I can apply effects to the strip as 1, or switch to applying to whatever segments are selected.

I tried it like this, or what I was hoping would work (and will maybe help this make more sense…)
seg0 = 0-150
seg1 = 0-50
seg2 = 51-100 (reversed)
seg3 = 101-150

select seg0 and deselect 1,2,3 - expect everything I select (colors, effects etc.) to apply to the entire strip like there are no segments
*so 1 meteor would follow the path from start to end
s------->
<-------<

------->E

deselect seg0, select seg1-3 - expect each segment to mirror each other
*would be 1 meteor per segment
S---->----E
S---->----E
S---->----E

@Mthorwart
seg0 = 0-150
seg1 = 0-50
seg2 = 51-100 (reversed)
seg3 = 101-150

This not possible in that way.
The start number of a segment must be 0 for the first one, and then 1 higher as lest led from the first segment.

This is the way how it worksas e.g.:
seg0 = 0-50
seg1 = 51-100
seg2 = 101-150

I understand how it works, but I’m asking if there is a way to switch from controlling by segments to just the whole strip without deleting the segments.
Sometimes I want the lights to be segments and sometimes I want them to be one strip.
I also understand selecting all of the segments controls all of them but then each one mirrors. I tried to post a video but it won’t let me and I’m not sure what I am asking is making sense…
