ESP32 C3 or S3

Hello together
I am working on a project in which I want to install an esp32 with wled.
I have very little space. That’s why I want to use an esp32 from seeed studio.

But which is the better one? Should I use the S3 or the C3?
Both work in my project.
Which one is better for the future?

Many thanks for your opinions.

The form factor could be needed in some cases ( esp32 D1 mini is very small ) . The variants c3 ,s2 and s3 are not very stable nor user friendly during installation or using usermods with wled so for the near feature say 2-3 years you are better off with normal esp32 but if you really must and like a bit of a challenge then go with s3 . I have c3 ,s2 and s3 already in production but as said it is not that easy to use in some cases .

Might be get one or two to test and see for yourself . All of that without knowing any details of your project so if that is for small setup then any esp will do

Thank you very much for your reply.

About my project:
I am building an led twirling batton.

That’s why I only have space for an esp32 with 18mm and It must have an external antenna for this.
That’s why I chose seeed studio.

Why would you prefer an s3?

S3 is more powerful then c3 but as you have small number of leds go with any esp you like which should be fine .

S3 is dual core, capable to support Audireactive flawlessly, C3 is not. C3 is RISCV, S3 is Xtensa.
C3 should have less power draw.

One of the best features I found in wled is a fairly easy installation process , OTA …etc and for sure stability .
We still have a lot of new/unused stock of classic esp32 and I was thinking to either dump those now as I could still get value for them in favor for some new variant or not rush the migration . what do you think ?

I’ve seen several design/manufacturing issues with new “micro” development boards.
Do not know about Xiao in particular but generic may experience WiFi issues, heat dissipation problems, underpowered LDO, etc.

Regardless, all of them (ESP32, S2, S3 and C3; as far as MCU goes) are well suited for WLED (each for certain type of installation).
