The person who posted that is still visible on github if you face a wall then post there and give him a link to your board specs and i am sure he would help ( please do not try to be sarcastic to the guys who are trying to help you as they are not aware of how experienced your are and might give hints but they mean well , if you do not like an answer just say thank you but that did not help )
Thanks for that. Brilliant direction…I will attempt to contact the “guru” suggested.
As for the sign off…
For the record my temperament is calm and easy like a Sunday morning. . So please read my words in the same way.
I’m a grown man and don’t really do sarcasm.
I’ve said before that when I’ve read people asking what would seem a simple question… (yes I know not every question Is “simple”) the reply often is 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
I did/do value his advice but couldn’t implement it so easily.
I don’t disrespect him. Much the opposite.
But that example is usually what is received. People on there “higher” understandings (which I’m not knocking) often forget not everybody is on the same level where a couple of words “explains everything”
Coupled with things not doing as directed or promised or suggested… Etc… Eventually creeps frustrations… Then when at the end of the tether get a “mic drop” reply just begs… More questions more frustrations.
So rather than have a go at me about pointing this out… be it a reminder to some that we are all on different levels and I’d like to assume moving in the same direction.
I DO appreciate and value those helping me on MY journey and would think the same for others.
Also if ALDIY is offended In any way what’s so ever by my attempt to make a subtle point then i whole heartedly apologise. But “insult” wasn’t the intention. I’ve read many of his writings and he’s spot on. He genuinely knows what he’s saying…
Just in that moment. It drew a blank with me.
Sure thing brother , if you got that to work somehow then please consider posting a link to your board and the process that worked for you so might be that would spare others the frustration your seen
Yeah could mean you still need to adjust for your custom boards , like the OP my best advice for you as I cant test on your board is going directly to github and contacting softhack with as much info on your board as possible .
Great.
I’m definitely not doing it for money… I can’t afford any 3d printer to do fancy stuff. So unless people like the MacGyver look… I’m all out luck.
Lol
I have tested this trick before but using tasmota ,I have not tried in espeasy yet and while it worked for me in Tas please test if you can update wled with OTA again as some reported it will not .
A healthy install should look like below examples to match your board specs ( still if it is working for you then no need to bother as PSRAM is used in wled only for ledmaps so only thing to make sure you could re-flash with OTA multiple times )
You could try anything that works even the trick from Tungmeister to use other firmware first , for PSRAM i am just testing to know how the board behaves but will now try to test other firmware that actually benefits from that ( PSRAM is useful in something like tasmota and openHASP as that would be the best way to use graphic with LVGL)
In all of this I forgot to mention that I am just testing and if all fails i hope you have a lot of normal esp32 around which I do and use for my practical projects
I only got few new variants but i did manage to have working setups with c3 ,s2 and s3
In all of those setups other then price and size ( there are $2 esp32 and there is also small form factor esp32 ) there is no real advantage, some have showed and claimed good result with something like s3 on large fixtures but sadly those guys did not provide enough info for other normal guys to replicate so it is all show business
Morning.
I’ve just had my own personal dull light bulb moment) forgive the pun). Zooming out it seems that these device are good for acting as nodes for bigger sophisticated situations. But for this littlest hobo hobbyist there’s only so much we can squeeze out of it with the power of a pc or other device to act as the brain.
So should be grateful for all it can do lol
Just down to imagination I guess. Trying to create loads of presets… Adding pic art … Loads of segments. Etc. Just thought it would assist in any or more than that.
So the question is still very much personal as to with board is the “best” is tied to what ever your actually doing.
Like you said having a few " normal." esp32 Laying around that I end up using as they just work lol. But we need still to push bounderies and show what possible… And that leads to guys like yourself. You show us what’s possible and more.
I’ve seen so real good project on here… Worthy of a commercial product… So I’ll carryon being inspired by you and other… Forgive my monologue… Had a coffee!
I have actually tried to order even more variants now because some of them are really cheap ( S3 is not that cheap ) .
It is also interesting that some of the new variants will actually flash easier in wled now compared to other projects we tried to test .I am sure when you are testing now and having issues that would only make it easier for the next guy to test on the same board .So your effort is not really wasted and compared to one year ago it is heaven now as I recall really struggling to flash c3 but most will flash from installer without issue . Some of the guys i work with even will actually stop using the esp for a project once then could flash it as they are only interested in the flashing process so they just try multiple open source firmware ( I advice you to do the same )
