How to add resistor to data pin 4 or gpio 2

my esp8266 dosent boot which is what i have found from the wled faq page. The solution is to add a resistor. But I am totally unaware about how to wire the resistor. Can some one please show me a picture or a link to how to wire or solder the resistor.

It says…

please try adding a 3.3 or 4.7kOhms resistor between the data pin and 3v3 pin

So, you would connect one end of the resistor to your data pin and the other to 3.3v.

So i will have to solder the ends on the back of my esp. Sorry for the very basic question but i couldnt find anything over the internet and I dont know how it works.
