Installed LEDs Then Realised The Controller Is Awful

Ok guys, so I have screwed up…and Ill be honest Ive come here to try to get some help on recovering a bad situation.

The mistake I have made is to install a shed load of lights, because I thought they would work with my Home Assistant setup, and then found out they wont work. Doh.

My controller is branded as FVTLED (pic attached). My Home Assistant wont talk to it, and I understand this is because of the firmware.

This is the kit I bought;

The lights I bought are GEYUEYA branded, which I understood were going to be ok, but apparently aren’t because of the firmware not being ESPHome.

Ill be honest guys…I’m a total noob to this, but I’d really like to get these lights working.

So my question is…

Is there another controller I could buy, and plug into these lights to save having to do anything too technical that ill probably end up messing up?

Or if not, do you think I will be able to flash this unit with ESPHome?

Hey, saw this post in the email roundup and thought I may be able to help. Depending on where you are based, you may be able to purchase a controller my Dad and I designed. It’s available on Amazon or Tindie to try and cover more territories.

It’s designed to make getting started as simple as physically possible, it’s still technically a development board so you need to pair it with an appropriate power supply. But once wired up it should broadcast a wifi network (WLED-AP wled1234) which you can connect to and enter your wifi info, and then it’ll just appear in Home Assistant, easy as.

Oh and it has an on board mic which allows for audio reactive effects :slight_smile:

The different models are listed on my website if you are interested: Home Is Where The Smart Is
