my local discount/surplus store has kits of the above Sylvania-branded LED strips with controller and remote on sale for ridiculously little money. I’m wondering what the chances are of integrating them into Home Assistant with its WLED Integration?
I should also mention that, having opened one of the boxes, there isn’t much in the way of instruction/documentation…and I also get lost in all the makes/model numbers etc here that might help me answer my own questions
so I pulled the trigger on 2 sets of these, and I’m here to report that the PC board in the controller box looks proprietary and nothing like the ESP boards here, so it’s the remote controller until I get an esp32 and de-solder etc etc.
At least doing it this way, I can flash wled right off the hop.
I still think the LED strings are a pretty good deal for the price I paid- 4x16’ lengths for under C$25…
I believe that those are dumb analog strips and that you will likely need mosfets to drive them if planning to use WLED. Also all LEDs will be the same color. Not individually addressable.
I’m not familiar with ollie’s, so no. Princess Auto here in Canada, in their Surplus section.
They’re disappointingly dim, these strips, but I do have some 12VDC supplies kicking around (and available from a friend who came into a pile of them and wants them liquidated), so if I feel inspired to get the ol’ breadboard out, I’ll dig deeper into that link…lucky for me the electronics and ESP32 are available locally if the muse strikes.
