I just purchased 400 ft of Addlon permanent outdoor lights along with 2 GLEDOPTO ESP32 controllers. I am trying to set up and test everything before I start cutting and installing on my house, but I can not figure out how to configure the configurations to control these lights. Someone please help.
This is an image of the LED and the back of the wire. I have dashed going to ground, dotted to IO16 and blank to hot. Is this correct?
Did they come with their own controller?
-If they did, do you have a multi meter?
-If you do, I would check the output of their included controller to figure out what + and - are.
If I were guessing I would say: words is +, Dots is -, and dash is data. Generally data is almost always the middle one.
I will have to check it tomorrow for sure. I cant believe I didnt think bout that. Do you have any insite in how to do the LED preferences?
Someone posted about using those in the WLED group on Face Book recently: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DqKDUySNz/
I am not sure what protocol they picked, but they did get them working and it sounds like way better than with their default app. If they have a dedicated white channel I would guess SK6812/WS2814. If only RGB I would guess WS281x. If you are not a member of WLED Support Group on FB you could join and click my link^^ and ask the person what setting they used ![]()
I have seen that post, but I dont use Facebook so I cant reach out to him on there. But I see that it works, just gotta figure out how.
Edit:
I have figured out my wiring connections and power limitations. I have tried to set up the LED Preferences, but nothing seems to work. I am trying to set up a sample test.witha single led to ensure the system is functioning properly before fully impending on my house.
I asked on FB, if they answer I’ll relay their info.
Never-ending @Jinx I figured it out. I was able to get it running. This was just a small sample size of LEDs. I now have to figure out how to sync 2 of them together for my 400 feet of lights.
What was your configuration? I have the same lights. Only 200 though.
Ok so I guess I only solved part of the issue. Last night when I hooked it up and had it running it was only hooked up to 16 leds. Today I tried to hook it up to the lights on my house. I have Tried to hook it up the (2) 100 ft sections that were connected in series. So 200 ft long with about 100 lights in total. I can hook up the voltage and controller in (3) locations beginning, end, and in-between the 2 sections. I connected it at the very beginning and powered it up. All lights kinds turned on. The first 100 feet worked as anticipated, but the second one didnt seem to work at all with intermittent flickering. Is that because I need to move my power to the middle of the 2 sections or is it because my power supply isnt sufficient? Its a 24 volt, 2 A power supply
What was the power supply that came with them and did it light the whole 200ft?
Did you turn off or adjust the brightness limiter in LED Pref?
The power supply with the lights was the same one I hooked up. A 24 volt 2A power supply. And yes before installing the new controller it powered all 200 feet perfectly. No flicker nothing.
Ok and you increased the brightness limiter in LED Pref’ from it’s default?
If you lower the master brightness slider do they stop flickering?
I tried that. What i think it is, is that power splitter between the 2 strings is causing an issue. Im gonna cut it out and jump it. And connect the 2 stings together
So I found out that the issue was at the junction of section 1 and section 2. The end of section 1 had this power injection spot. If you remove this and splice the 2 wires together then the issue goes away.
That device likely cuts the + between the 2 sections. Reason: you should never connect the + of more than 1 power supply together.
Yup so now I have to go through and remove all of those branches. Might be able to hook up all 200 lights with 1 power supply and controller
