Projects for downloading?

We have 390 lights on three sections of our house. We are trying to learn how to set up our system for different holidays.
Is there a location where we can download some projects, modify the number of lights, and use those projects until we design our own.
It would be helpful to see what each project looks like before we download them.

Thank you

If you mean presets sharing then someone started that here Preset sharing but I did not see others provide their own . I think the reason is if you copy one preset as is without cleanup it may not work correctly on other units so one needs to save it without segments bonds and then share it and the guys are lazy like me . If you did some then post on the same link

Just saying this as a Newbie with WLED. Most of the providing insight into making a Project indicate “it is easy”. For a newbie it isn’t that easy.
For me I learn by seeing a good example and digesting what was done to make the project.

Here is what I think is a simple project:

  1. Turn ON white lights at Sunset 30% brightness.
  2. At 10PM change the brightness to 10%.
  3. Turn OFF the lights at Sunrise.
  4. Repeat every night.

Thank you

You are making WLED way harder then it is.

All you have to do is click on an effect you like
Adjust it’s intensity and speed sliders
Set desired colors or color palette
Save it as a preset.

Do that for each holiday and when you want whatever one to play click on the desired preset or set it’s numerical value in the time/macro area for when you want it to be activated.

For info on that as well as setting timers a quick search on youtube brought me to this video that goes over both: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vtKkAwVDP8

Once you have the basics of adding presets and selecting effects you can also split your LEDs into segments that can all be doing different things or the same things but as separate sections. (just search for creating segments in WLED on youtube)

If you are still set on using other peoples presets (OPP :face_with_hand_over_mouth:) Dr Zzs has a video on that that also has a link to a github with a collection of presets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e2Fdkiss8E

If you are asking how to do that:

  • Click on Presets
  • Click + Preset
  • Change the name to Off
  • Uncheck Use Current State
  • In the API Box type in T=0
  • Click Save

That will create a preset for Off (T=0 means Off)

Next:

  • Press the power button in the top left to turn the LEDs ON
  • Click on Effects
  • Click on the Solid effect
  • Click on Colors
  • Set your color to White
  • Adjust your brightness slider to desired brightness (77 would be 30%)
  • Click on Presets
  • Click on + Preset
  • Change the name to White 30%(or whatever you want to call it)
  • Click on Save

You now have 2 presets listed. One for Off and one for White 30%

Next:

  • Adjust your brightness slider to 10% (26 would be 10%)
  • Click + Preset
  • Change the name to White 10%
  • Click Save

You now have 3 presets listed. Off, White 30%, White 10%

Next:

  • Click on Config from the top menu.

  • Click on Time & Macros

  • Adjust the time settings for your location

  • Scroll down to Time-controlled presets

  • For the first one set the hour to 22 and the preset to whatever the # was for your White 10% preset (likely if you have never created any other presets except for the steps I have provided it would be 3).

  • At the end of the Timed presets list where it says Sunrise, Enter the preset number for your Off preset (again if this example is the only presets you have ever saved the number would be 1).

  • Below that is Sunset. Enter the preset number for your White 30% preset there (again if this example is the only presets you have ever saved the number would be 2).

  • Click Save

Now your White 30% preset will turn on at Sunset. At 10pm it will change to your White 10% preset. At Sunrise it will call your Off preset.

Hello Jinx,

I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to write to me. I am out of town and can’t get to the lights. My wife has something you designed for Veterans Day and wants to see what it looks like tonight. She will follow the email with the steps tomorrow. I will let you know how it went.

Thanks again,
Ron

THANK YOU VERY MUCH…
We followed your Step-by-step instructions, and it works great.

Two questions:

  1. Our house is step up with 3 areas having lights. With the current all white setup one of the sections the white lights are slightly different (a very slight yellow added). What is causing this? Do we need to add power injectors?
  2. How do we SAVE each setup? For example I want to save the current white setup and be able to bring back in when needed? Do I use Windows to copy a file? What is the extension name?

Thank you,
Ron

I forgot to mention: Things started making sense when you had me go to Config. I didn’t realize how important items in the Menu are. For example, setting up the Time Features.

Thank you again

To fix the dimming you would requite power injection.

Those presets are how things are saved. you can have a whole list of presets.

If you are wanting to keep a backup of your presets on an external device (computer, usb drive, phone) you would go to config, Security & Update and download your presets file to your pc.

If you want to save your config, you would download that from the same menu. -Config would be all your configurations like wifi settgins, LED ports/counts, timed controlled settings.

AGAIN, THANK YOU VERY MUCH…

I really appreciate you taking the time to assist me. I have learned from what you have sent me.
My son has a light system also. He is having some problems with his setup also. I think he has longer cables between different sections. I will suggest we purchase some injectors.

Again, thank you
Ron
