Random flicker only on certain parts

Hi everyone!

I have been reading through a lot of the dicussions as there are a number of people with a similar issue but mine is slightly difference so I am hoping someone could shed some light on it for me.

I am running WS2815 in a media wall setup where I have 6 relatively small strips within sections of the wall.

From the photo you will see, the strips run from bottom to top box on the right then move over to the left of the 3 vertical strips across to the right. I am getting frequent random colour change but only on the 3 vertical strips and the horizontal box strips are fine.

I am using a 240v to 12v transformer and a 12v to 5v buck converter to power the ESP32. I have a level shifter I2C due to the initial 1-2n run to the first horizontal strip from where the components are located.

it just seems really strange that it is only a certain part of the run that is affected and not all of them but I am relatively new to the LED scene so hoping that the experience found in here may help me to find a way to rectify the issue.

I would upload a video of the flash but not sure how!

You are using the wrong levelshifter. Also if you are on v. 15.1 either downgrade to 14.4 or up to 15.2 or 16 alpha. There is a bug in 15.1 that can cause flickering.

Warning

I2C shifters are generally too slow for addressable LEDs, so don’t use them.

Thank you for your quick response. I have just updated all my WLED devices to 16 alpha but the flash / flicker is still there.

I accept what you are saying about the level shifter however I am also running the same level shifter on different strip runs and they are not having an issue.

Could this be anything other than that?

yes, but shifter is the no 1 reason
