Reducing the Effecxts for more Segments

Will this work for Compiling with less effects to get more segments on the 8266 Board

only Base effects needed Solid Fade Chase Spiral will this get the Memory free for 24segments?

Pretty sure you’re out of memory (and other resources) for segments.

I don’t know the exact number, but I think 16(?) segments is max for the ESP32 boards.
If I recall correctly, ESP8266 is even more limited.

I don’t think you’ll work around that without some heavy work in the design of WLED (just my guess).

Perhaps @blazoncek will comment with a more exact description of the limits you’re hitting.

What are you trying to do with 24 segments, what is your setup?

In 0.14 ESP8266 can have 16 segments (but will most likely crash if you set up more than 12). ESP32 can have 32 segments.
0.15 reduces the number to 12 to prevent (frequent) crashes.

Reducing the number of effects has no effect on the used RAM.
