Shelf lighting inspiration

Getting ready to put in some shelf lighting and looking for a bit of inspiration. Here’s the setup, and the plan is to do up lighting on the tops of the shelves and downlighting on the bottom of the bottom shelf. Using WS2805, and for reference the control box is on top of the cabinets to the left (eventual plan is to do over and under cabinet lighting for the whole area).

Here’s where I’d love some feedback:

  • I’m currently planning to go across to the top shelf with 4-conductor wire, probably go underneath, drop down to the bottom shelf with more 4-conductor, and then loop around the end of the bottom shelf for the down light. I feel like that may wind up looking messy though, so open to any suggestions on better wiring strategy.

  • At least for the up lights, I’m debating whether or not to put them in channels or stick them straight to the shelves. I feel like the latter would look cleaner (especially since I have black PCB), but don’t know if I’d regret not having the diffusers that I’d use on the channels.

TIA for any input!
