Turn on after power up override failure

I am running 0.14.4 on an athom.tech controller that is reported as a esp8266 3.1.2.

One of the first things I did was uncheck the “Turn on LEDs after power up/reboot”

After a recent power failure, while nobody was home & they were off at the time of the power cut, we returned to discover the lights were on.

I did have it integrated with Home Assistant. I disabled all Home Assistant automations connected to it and power cycled the controller several times with a smart plug. Each time the LEDs powered up.

Is there another setting I am missing or does this sound like a bug?

The other setting is “Apply preset at boot”.
If you set that to 0, the default “orange glow” will be used.

That is just it. I do not want any glow or preset to happen. I want the LEDs to remain off upon power up/reset.

Setup a Preset that has all the LEDs off and use that as the startup Preset.

This sounds like a workaround that could work for me.

However am I correct in my understanding that by deselecting the “Turn on LEDs after power up/reboot” option it should prevent the need for this workaround?
