WLED Device 'Highjacked' by Home Assistant

New to HomeAssistant. Eager to learn. Pardon if my HA vocabulary is not yet up to speed. Installed HA on Ubuntu machine yesterday hoping to explore a bit. HA immediately searched for, recognized, and found my WLED (audio-reactive) light device (0.14.4). HA proceeded to ‘highjack’ my WLED. Lights reverted to initial (solid orange) state. Now I can alter WLED effects from within HA, but my Audio Reactive feature is gone.
I found some lines of code provided on the Home Assistant forum that might resolve this. The updated conformation.yaml file does produce a switch on the HA dashboard that should toggle between audio-reactive on/off, but the switch does not function. The switch appears to be ‘off’. When I try to switch it ‘on’, there is not apparent action.
Admittedly, I’m just 24 hrs into this, and likely have a ways to go re: yaml files. Can anyone point me toward a solution, or suitable tutorial to try and get my audio-reactive back?
