Trouble with WLED App discovering lights. Esp8266 2747
WLED v0.11.0 Mirai
Flashed board - OK. Connection great when on the WLED connection. Set up my wifi name/password. Followed Drzz YouTube. When I click the app to discover nothing happens. I can only control LEDs while on the wled 4.3.2.1
What am I missing here?
After switching wifi over to wled-ap and configure ssid/pwd for your 2.4ghz wifi, does it join? You can see if the wled-ap comes back up after it fails to join.
If your wifi is segmented into iot devices and everything else, your phone needs to connect to the same wifi network as wled.
That’s a few ideas. Any help? If not, more details about type of router might help.

After switching wifi to wled-AP it does join. I entered my home wifi name/password. I can only see wled page while on the wled-AP. If I connect to my home wifi I do not get the wled page. My iPhone will connect to the wled-AP and I can see the nodemcu’s wifi. I still can’t get the wled app to discover any lights. I don’t know if the led lights need to be physically connected to the nodemcu first, I assume this shouldn’t matter.
I’ve followed several YouTube videos and they all seem to show the same method. But after following I still don’t get the app to discover lights.
It seems to work fine if I’m not using the wled app. But the app is a problem for me so far.
Make/model of WiFi AP or router? if Ubiquity, they have issues.

Does the webpage work? In a browser?
Yes. It works in a browser, but only when connected to the wled-ap. Not my home wifi.
Do you have the 2 bands joined? 2.4 and 5 GHz? If you have a single SSID for both bands, then yes, and you need to split them up so there are 2 SSIDs.
I don’t think so. How would I know?
I just have one home wifi ssid. I’ve never had two and not sure how you would create a second. It’s never been mention on any of the youtube videos.
I think this is what you need to do to split the 2 wifi bands. Having them separate is typically necessary since the ESP’s are 2.4GHz only and aren’t programmed to handle the smarter wifi gateway/router devices like yours.
Logged into the router and it shows 2.4 and 5 GHz, both Enabled. I believe they are separated but not sure how to find out or exactly what that means. They both have the same ssid.
There ya go. Can’t have the same SSID.
