I have 2 different WLED light strips hooked up. One I control from my computer. I have to connect to it with a wifi connection which I named DJBoothLights. This one is about 100 feet away. Sometimes it takes a few tries but it does eventually connect. The other one is actually a few feet from the same computer but I control that one with the WLED app on my phone. Didn’t really intend for this to happen. When I just turn on the computer controlled light and try to connect from my phone (I walk right next to it) it can’t find lights when I hit ‘discover lights’. The phone controlled lights when I turn those on it usually connects right away in the app on my phone. Sometimes though I have to hit ‘discover lights’ and it finds them right away and I can connect. How do I get both of these controlled with my phone? Can I control both with one connection on the app so that they both do the same thing? I appreciate the help!
AP or wifi network mode?
Thanks for chiming in dedahai. I’m not sure I can say with certainty what mode it’s in. One I have connected with my tower PC via wifi network which I called DJBoothLights. That shows up as a network to pick from on my PC. But with my phone I just use the WLED app and it usually connects automatically to the 2nd set of lights. Is there an easy way to tell which mode these lights are in?
if you added wifi config, it will try to connect to wifi. if it can not it will fall back to AP and keep trying. if reception is bad, it can be unresponsive.
either set it to AP mode by changing wifi settings or improve reception so it can connect.
Ok so I checked the Wifi Setup for both of my lights. They look exactly the same to me. So still not sure how one I connect with my phone and the other one I connect with my laptop. Where exactly do I see this AP mode or if I added wifi config? Thank you and sorry for the newbie questions!
