Hi, I’ve been using WLED since February and suddenly will no longer connect to WiFi.
I purchased 3 ESP8266 boards and flashed them with version 0.14.0. I currently only use 2 of the boards, each control a separate strand of leds and both have their own ip address. One of them works fine but the other randomly stopped working and I’m not sure how to fix it, or what is even wrong. Are there any solutions to potentially resolve the issue? Reflash? Appreciate any help or advice. Thank you.
Edit: I want to add that I can still power on the device through the power supply, and the lights turn on, but WLED will not launch.
How did you set it’s IP?
Are you sure it has not changed?
Did you check your wifi networks list to see if by change it was broadcasting it’s internal WLED-AP access point?
New, strong WiFi network in your neighborhood? Scan WiFi. Sometimes is it useful, members with much traffic to “bann” in a extra 5 GHz WiFi to get more space in 2,4 GHz
The IP was set during initial installation, just like the second one. The IP is the same. I checked my router for connected devices and there’s no foreign IPs on there.

I’m not sure how to check this…
No network changes in the neighborhood or at home. Literally nothing has changed. I saw some posts online about restarting the router and bringing it back, but would go down again. I did try this morning and the lights and everything came back as normal, but only lasted for a few minutes and then shut off again. The lights do not come on at all now, even when I unplug/replug the device. No response at all now.
I think I will try flashing it later this week and if that doesn’t work I will assume the board is fried. I have a spare somewhere I can setup. The only other thing I could possibly think of is a loose wire or connection somewhere.
If you set a static IP from WLED wifi settings and at some point if your device is not connected to your wifi (unplugged/rebooted) and your router assigns that IP to another client device you will have issues as that IP is already being used by something else. It is best to reserve static IP address from within your routers settings. (Not saying this is your issue, but it could be and or could be at a later time).
How is your Esp and it’s LEDs being powered? Could be a faulty power supply.
I for sure would try reflashing the Esp. Maybe it has some corruption in it’s filesystem.
Look at available wifi networks from your pc/phone/tablet. If you see WLED-AP then the controller is not connected to your wifi.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I do not think it’s IP or WiFi related. I’ve checked my router and there are no unknown devices. I’ve also checked the IP of all the devices and none of them are using the WLED device IP.
The devices are powered with a 5v USB charger. I’ve swapped working WLED connection to the other charger and is working fine. I thought maybe it was faulty as well, but alas. I’ll try reflashing it this week.
WLED (actually ESP itself) only supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks with 20MHz channel width.
If you have multiple APs verify that all use the same settings (except for channel they’re on).
