Tied all night and most of today just can not get led strip to go one color or turn off by ap or desk top. Have used 2 different 8266 d1 mini clones. Organizer ESP8266 ESP-12 ESP-12F NodeMcu Mini D1 Module WeMos Lua 4M Bytes WLAN WiFi Internet. Can not find true pin layout but have tried multiple pins. ground d2,d3,and d4. will change color a little will change pattern. I am lost on this does not help i am new to controllers. Any help would be great.
I use the Organizer brand and it’s D4. How long are wires between ESP and strip?
About 4 feet on 1 and other was about a foot. Took both red and white to positive and negative. Green to d4 and d2 not at same time. Had ground off power supply to ground on 8266.
I’d say 4’ needs a level shifter.

Ok, I will try again tonight. Is it just 2 wires to the 8266 D4 and Ground? I have read about a normally open push button. Also what do you recommend for flashing?
