Does linking Alexa help with connection issues? Did for me

I have several set ups using nodeMCU.
Some at my house all intergration with HA.
I have some at my girlfriends house with no HA just using WLED web or app.
Her bedroom led set up has always had connection issues {low wifi signal} I tried several different node MCU and makers and half the time had a hard time keeping connection but still worked and she was happy.
Here is what I can’t figure out.
She got a Echo dot and I linked it with Alexa.
2 weeks no more connection issues
Can open app and web to access every time and Alexa never says can’t find device.

What a strange behavior. Generally enabling Alexa uses more resources, especially memory.
Maybe the connection to the Echo helps the rather weak wifi connection stay established. It probably also depends on the router or other factors… But I’m happy that it is now working!

I have not experimented yet.
The lag and it not responding been an issue for about a 6 months even after switching different ISP and their routers.
As soon as I set up her Echo it worked great. The echo is a foot away from the nodeMCU.
Soon she will be set up with HA we will see how that changes things.
Also I noticed in the Alexa app the light show up as Royal Phillip smart home

Yep, it says it’s a Royal Philips device because WLED needs to emulate parts of the Philips hue protocol to be controllable by Alexa!
